President Uchtdorf gave a wonderful talk talk in the October 2010 General Conference – Of Things that Matter Most. I had the opportunity to see this talk in person! When President Uchtdorf came up to the stand to talk, it was like a rock star had entered the building. Everyone was so excited to hear him speak. The messages were very uplifting and meaningful.
“We build deep and loving family relationships by doing simple things together, like family dinner and family home evening and by just having fun together. In family relationships love is really spelled t-i-m-e, time. Taking time for each other is the key for harmony at home. We talk with, rather than about, each other. We learn from each other, and we appreciate our differences as well as our commonalities. We establish a divine bond with each other as we approach God together through family prayer, gospel study, and Sunday worship.”
Love is Spelled Time – Free LDS Printable
I don’t think there is any better way to show someone you love them than to share your time with them. Time is a common denominator for all of us. We all have the same amount of time in the day. To give someone your time is a big deal. It is the ultimate way to show love.
Another thing that President Uchtdorf said in his talk that touched me was:
“Strength comes not from frantic activity but from being settled on a firm foundation of truth and light. It comes from placing our attention and efforts on the basics of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It comes from paying attention to the divine things that matter most.”
What matters most to me? No question, easiest answer ever – my family. Nothing makes me happier than my family and I would go to the ends of the earth to support and show them love.
This printable would be a simple gift idea or handout for a relief society lesson or visiting teaching.
